Eastgate Google Map
Eastgate is nestled on the Near Eastside between the Norfolk & Western Railway to the west and Alum Creek to the east, Broad Street to the south and Maryland Avenue to the north. It can easily be recognized on a map with its distinct curved streets that are in contrast to the grid system surrounding it. As you visit the neighborhood, you may notice the elimination of alleyways and utility lines found in the rear of lots as part of Pitkin’s unique design.
Originally, Eastgate was part of the Refugee Tract set in 1801 by Congress. Some this land became the homestead of the David Nelson family in 1802. This tract of land is a strip is four-and-a-half miles running north/south and running 48 miles east/west.
